Yesterday, I explained that over the course of the next couple of weeks we’ll be introducing a number of new features into Chrome Warrior. Today, I’d like to tell you about the Author role. A special thank you to Dr. Mike Swize and Will Carr at Palm Springs Unified for sponsoring this feature.
Right now there are two roles in Chrome Warrior: Players, who participate in sorties to earn points and badges, and Admins, who develop missions and sorties and monitor progress. Our new release will include a third role:: Author. The Author role allows Admins to grant individuals the right to create sorties, without giving them all of the rights of an Admin. In addition, the Author role is supported by an approval workflow that allows you to ensure that Author-designed sorties that meet your district’s quality standards. All sorties created by an Author must be approved by an Admin before they can published as part of a game.
The Author role enables you to scale the creation of your pedagogy, and allows subject matter experts to create sorties without granting admin rights to individuals who aren’t responsible for managing Chrome Warrior on a day-to-day basis.
We will also be introducing a comments feature, which will enable Admins and Authors to communicate about a given sortie without having to leave the Chrome Warrior interface
I’ll be sharing screencast tutorials as soon as the feature is complete.. Tomorrow, I’ll describe the fourth role we’re introducing: Reviewers.
Thanks for reading and please send me any questions you have!
